Bank deposits include money that was not customer sales
Trace each bank credit to its actual source before describing it as customer sales. Keep documented transfers and owner funding separate from receipts supported by customer-payment records. A processor payout is another layer to investigate because it can combine several balance transactions. Record unsupported credits as unmatched, and do not turn either total deposits or deposits minus known transfers into a sales figure without evidence for the remaining entries.
For: A research-only merchant using bank activity to support an application while the account also receives transfers, owner funding or other credits.
Define the activity the application asks you to establish
Write down whether the application asks for card volume, trading history, customer receipts or another named measure, together with its entity and period. Bank credits show amounts recorded as entering the account. That alone does not identify the underlying transaction or prove that every credit answers the requested sales question.
Build the working list from the actual bank period and preserve the original record. Give each credit a private reference, amount, currency and bank date. Then add a source-document reference in a separate column. The statement's description is a lead for finding that record; a description that sounds like the business's own name or a provider name is not, on its own, a completed classification.
Establish the source instead of assigning the most convenient label
For a claimed customer receipt, identify the real payment record and the order or invoice it relates to. An invoice by itself identifies the billed activity, but the connection to the incoming funds still needs to be shown. For a transfer, find the corresponding originating-account record. For owner funding, use the genuine funding and transfer documentation. Record only what those documents establish; this worksheet does not determine whether funding is equity, a loan or another accounting category.
Use three evidence outcomes: linked to customer-payment activity, linked to another documented source, or unresolved. Keep a processor payout as a separate intermediate classification until its contents are understood. If part of a credit is supported and part is not, record the supported part and leave the remainder unmatched. Do not classify all residual credits as sales simply because you have already identified some transfers.
Look through a processor payout to the activity behind it
Stripe documents a payout as funds sent from the available balance to the bank; a payout can include multiple transactions. The payout object does not itself list those transactions. Stripe also records each funds movement as a balance transaction. Matching a bank credit to a Stripe payout therefore identifies the provider transfer, but does not make that bank amount a count or gross total of customer sales.
Stripe's balance summary report covers a selected period in settlement currency and separates gross, fee and net activity. It does not associate payouts with payment transactions. Use it to understand the period's balance activity, and use the actual supporting payout and transaction records to establish the relationship you are claiming. For manual payouts, Stripe says it does not identify the included transactions; the merchant must reconcile against its own history. If that connection remains unsupported, leave it unresolved rather than inventing a batch.
Keep bank credit dates, provider movement dates and underlying payment dates separately. A bank credit inside the requested period does not establish that all underlying customer payments occurred inside that period. Preserve currencies as shown as well. A matching amount is useful corroboration, but reference, source and period must also support the link. Another provider's settlement records need that provider's definitions.
State the supported history and the unresolved portion separately
Before preparing the application answer, make every credit in the selected bank list traceable to a classification or an unresolved entry. In the private working paper, the amounts assigned to those groups should account for the credits you started with. This checks the completeness of your list; it does not turn the customer-linked group into gross card volume or an accounting revenue figure. Do not count the same money twice by adding both its processor transaction and the later bank receipt as separate sales.
The usable result is a bounded description: which credits have customer-payment support, which come from documented other sources, and which amounts or dates remain unmatched. If the application requires a different measure, keep that requirement open until the underlying records answer it. For a Prism processing-preparation consultation, summarize the requested metric and the unresolved record relationship. Keep bank statements and funding documents out of the public form, and agree any further assistance, responsibilities, fees and terms before work.
Bank-credit source classification
Apply these checks to each actual credit in your private working list. Use non-sensitive local labels and match results in this worksheet. Keep detailed amounts and documents in your controlled records. A provider-payout match is an intermediate finding, and every unsupported portion stays unmatched.
Worksheet entries are not submitted by Prism’s worksheet and are not saved by the site. Use record types, availability, anonymized observations, or match/mismatch results. Do not enter government identifiers, customer names or addresses, customer messages, receipt-access links, card or bank details, passwords, or keys. Send sensitive documents only through the provider’s verified secure channel.

What the record can establishIdentifies the incoming bank movement; omit full account numbers and private banking references here.
Underlying source record
Supporting recordA corresponding payment, originating transfer or genuine funding record.
What the record can establishA traceable connection is stronger than a description alone. Mark missing support as unresolved.
Customer sale or other source
Supporting recordThe linked order and payment evidence, or the documented non-customer source.
What the record can establishSeparate customer-linked receipts from other sources without deciding accounting or tax treatment.
Processor payout contents
Supporting recordThe provider payout and its supporting transaction history, where available.
What the record can establishA bundled payout is not one sale or necessarily gross card volume. Preserve unexplained components.
Relevant period
Supporting recordThe bank date, source-record date and application's requested dates.
What the record can establishA receipt inside the window does not place every underlying payment inside that window.
Unmatched amount
Supporting recordThe unsupported credit or remaining portion in the private working paper.
What the record can establishKeep it unresolved; subtracting known transfers does not prove that the remainder is sales.
Coverage and duplicate check
Supporting recordThe complete bank-credit list compared with the classified and unresolved entries.
What the record can establishAccount for every listed credit, and avoid counting a payment and its later payout twice.
Application claim supported
Supporting recordThe requested metric compared with the evidence now linked.
What the record can establishUse only the measure established. A classified bank list may still leave card volume unanswered.

Limits
This is a source-evidence worksheet for application preparation, not tax advice, accounting treatment or a revenue-recognition decision.
Stripe's balance and payout definitions do not describe every provider's reports or establish acceptance of bank records as processing history.
Do not include full bank details, customer records, identity documents or private funding documents in worksheet notes or the public inquiry.
Stripe balance summary report — checked 2026-09-21. The balance report covers selected-period activity in settlement currency and separates gross, fee and net. It does not associate payouts with payment transactions or establish that every inflow is a customer sale.
Payout reconciliation — checked 2026-09-21. A payout sends available-balance funds to the bank and can include multiple transactions. The payout object does not list them; each funds movement creates a balance transaction. Stripe does not match manual payouts to included transactions.
