Processing choices

Separate the services inside a processing proposal

Break the proposal into the services it actually names. For each one, identify the supplying company, the agreement that governs it, its price and collection method, and what the documents say happens when that service or processing ends. A single salesperson, package name, or invoice does not establish that all services share one agreement. Keep any unallocated package price and unanswered cancellation dependency visible until the issuer explains them in writing.

For: A research-only merchant evaluating a written processing proposal that also includes other services.

Build the service list from the offer in hand

Read the proposal’s deliverables and attachments before comparing the advertised processing rate. Extract each service actually quoted, using the supplier’s own label. Separate the service that accepts or handles payments from the other deliverables the proposal names. Do not add services because they are common in other packages, and do not assume a heading such as support describes a particular operating commitment.

For each line, identify who supplies it and who contracts with your business. The sales contact, the billing company, and the service supplier may be separately named. Where the documents give only a brand or group name, ask which legal company is responsible for that line. This is a map of commercial scope; control of website accounts and data is a separate question when a storefront is included.

Attach the governing documents to each line

Keep the proposal date and the version of each agreement it references. Match each service to the main agreement, service terms, order form, and any incorporated conditions the proposal actually identifies. Mark a missing document as missing. If two documents appear to give different answers, retain both passages and ask the supplier which applies to that service; do not choose whichever makes the package look cheaper.

Stripe’s general terms illustrate why the document stack matters. The version checked on September 29, 2026 combines general, service, and incorporated terms, with regional terms dependent on account country. Written fee agreements can differ from public pricing. That is a Stripe-specific structure, not evidence that your proposal uses Stripe or that another supplier follows the same order of terms. Read the agreements attached to the actual offer.

A sentence saying a service is included still needs a scope: which work, for what period, under which conditions, and with what exclusions stated in the offer. An unlisted deliverable remains unconfirmed. Ask for clarification without turning that uncertainty into a claim that the service is definitely unavailable.

Distinguish the fee from the way it is collected

Copy each stated charge with its currency, charging basis, period, start condition, and document reference. Record whether the proposal calls it recurring, one-time, waived, or part of an indivisible package. If the proposal gives only a combined amount, keep that amount as a package charge and request an allocation or confirmation that no separate allocation is offered. Do not count the combined amount again as the price of every component.

Collection is a second field. Identify whether the charge is invoiced separately or collected through the payment arrangement, where the documents say so. Stripe’s checked general terms distinguish fees, subscription scope, and collection methods; fees can be deducted, charged, or invoiced under those terms. An invoice issuer or a deduction on a processing record therefore does not, by itself, tell you which service the charge purchases.

For an existing package, compare the written fee record with the actual invoice or collection entry privately. For a new proposal, label the collection method as proposed and say there is no billing history yet. A waived charge needs its stated conditions and duration; silence about price is not a waiver.

Read the exit path in both directions

For every service, ask two documentary questions: what happens to it if processing ends, and what happens to processing if that service ends? Record any stated dependency, notice recipient, notice method, effective date rule, remaining charge, and effect on access. If the agreement does not answer a question, return it to the supplier. Do not treat closing one dashboard as evidence that every linked agreement has ended.

The checked Stripe general terms state that debit authorization can survive account closure until amounts are paid. That narrow point shows why closing access and ending collection authority require separate attention; it does not supply your remaining balance or determine another company’s termination rules. This worksheet organizes the clauses and unanswered dependencies. It does not decide enforceability or tell you to cancel a service.

Once each line has a supplier, scope, price basis, and exit answer, evaluate the package against the services your business actually needs. Return an incomplete package for clarification before relying on its headline price. For Prism processing preparation, summarize the research-only business and the unresolved package question in a consultation request. Scope, fees, and terms are agreed before work; the provider sets account terms. The public form is not an upload point for contracts or private billing records, and a request is not a purchase, appointment, or processing application.

Bundled service agreement map

Use this checklist separately for every service actually quoted. Keep document references in your private working record; enter only non-sensitive findings here. A combined price stays combined until the supplier supplies a supported allocation. Missing terms remain questions rather than assumed inclusions.

Worksheet entries are not submitted by Prism’s worksheet and are not saved by the site. Use record types, availability, anonymized observations, or match/mismatch results. Do not enter government identifiers, customer names or addresses, customer messages, receipt-access links, card or bank details, passwords, or keys. Send sensitive documents only through the provider’s verified secure channel.
