Comparing written eligibility answers from two providers

Compare the questions each provider received before comparing the answers. Put both replies against one dated description of the actual business, then separate category consideration, application review and account approval. Record exclusions, conditions, service scope and any expiry wording for each reply. A difference may reflect different disclosures, different review stages or genuinely different provider decisions. Resolve the differences that matter to your intended application through each provider’s own channel; do not choose by the most reassuring use of the word approved.

For: An owner or authorized representative of a research-only business with two written provider replies that appear to disagree about eligibility.

Make the disclosed business identical

Gather the original inquiry sent to each provider and the full reply, including attachments or linked terms. Create one current reference description naming the legal entity, domains, complete research-only catalog, channels, operating and fulfillment countries, and requested payment methods and currencies. Mark planned activity separately from activity already taking place.

Compare each sent inquiry with that reference. If the catalog changed between inquiries, the providers did not answer the same question. If one inquiry described only online checkout and the other included wholesale invoices, their replies may cover different channels. Record the difference and send a correction or clarification with the full accurate scope. Do not make the replies appear comparable by removing a difficult product from the description while continuing to sell it.

This step also prevents an apparent contradiction caused by dates. A reply tied to an earlier catalog remains a record of that earlier inquiry. It is not automatically an answer about products added later.

Separate the stage of the answer from its tone

For each document, identify what the provider actually decided. A statement that the category can be considered, a request to complete an application, a conditional reply and an account approval are different stages. Record an unclear stage as unclear. Do not promote a preliminary sales response to the same stage as a decision issued after review.

Stripe’s FAQ says its activation review determines what it can support. Its published restricted-business policy says approvals are service-specific and may be modified or revoked, and prohibits misleading information and undisclosed products. These Stripe statements illustrate the importance of the disclosed scope and service; they are not rules for the second provider or a decision about your business.

An answer that names the category but omits the particular catalog leaves a narrower record than one that expressly addresses it. More detail can make an answer easier to evaluate, but detail alone does not prove that the provider has approved the business.

Classify each difference before asking again

Work across the comparison register one topic at a time. Mark a topic aligned only when both replies address the same disclosed fact. Mark it different when both give substantive but different answers. Mark it unanswered when either reply omits the topic. Those labels describe the record; none is an eligibility score.

For conditions, retain the provider’s wording and record the action, the evidence required and who decides whether it has been met. If one provider asks for more information and the other excludes the activity, those are different positions, not proof that either reply is false. If a condition is unclear, ask what would satisfy it rather than designing your own control and claiming acceptance.

Keep expiry, modification and withdrawal language in a separate comparison row. An absent expiry date is not a promise of permanent eligibility. A broad reply also does not override a narrower exclusion elsewhere in the same document. Return the conflicting passages to the provider that issued them and ask which scope it intends.

Choose the next inquiry before the application

For each provider, produce a short list of issues that could change the application you would submit: an omitted product, an unconfirmed channel, a country outside the stated scope or a condition you cannot yet document. Tie each question to the dated reply and the current business description. Keep each provider’s commercial correspondence private; you can ask a direct clarification without forwarding its competitor’s documents.

Proceed toward an application only on the accurate business facts and the provider’s stated process. Where a necessary scope point remains unclear, obtain the clarification before relying on that answer to choose the application route. If neither answer covers the business you intend to operate, the result is two incomplete options, not a reason to select the one with fewer written limitations.

Once eligibility scope is comparable, fees and account terms belong in a separate proposal comparison. A low rate cannot fill a missing catalog answer. Prism’s processing consultation can help organize the scope comparison and remaining questions, with responsibilities, fees and terms agreed before work. Describe the website, research-only products and unresolved difference; a consultation request does not submit either provider’s application or purchase a service.

Answer comparison register

In each blank field, record Provider A’s wording and source date, Provider B’s wording and source date, then aligned, different or unanswered. Add the one clarification needed. Use references to private documents rather than copying sensitive account material.

Worksheet entries are not submitted by Prism’s worksheet and are not saved by the site. Use record types, availability, anonymized observations, or match/mismatch results. Do not enter government identifiers, customer names or addresses, customer messages, receipt-access links, card or bank details, passwords, or keys. Send sensitive documents only through the provider’s verified secure channel.

Limits

  • Different provider replies do not establish that either provider is wrong or that either answer is legally binding.
  • Stripe’s policy describes Stripe’s service and review boundaries. It does not establish another provider’s criteria or blanket eligibility for research-only businesses.
  • Keep private proposals, identity documents, payment credentials and customer records out of the public consultation form.
