A software feature adds a new fee to the processing arrangement
Identify the exact service and affected account, the event that creates a charge, the written price that applies and whether the existing offer includes that feature. Also establish how the fee will be collected and where it will be reported. A visible setting confirms only that the interface presents a choice. It is not evidence of free availability, inclusion in a processing quote or permission to use the service for your business.
For: An owner or finance lead of a research-only business deciding whether to enable an optional feature connected to its processing arrangement.
Copy the feature’s exact name from the interface and match it to the service named in the offer or terms. Record which company bills it and which account receives the service. If a platform presents the setting while another company supplies the service, keep both names until the documents establish their roles. Do not fold an optional subscription or separately billed product into the card-processing rate merely because it appears beside payment settings.
For Stripe, the Services Agreement combines general, service and incorporated terms, with regional terms depending on account country. The recorded version, last modified September 28, 2026, distinguishes services, subscription scope, fees and collection. Read the terms applicable to the selected service and actual account. Those Stripe provisions do not define a different provider’s commercial arrangement.
Find the trigger and the price source before activation
Read the charge definition closely enough to identify what starts billing: activation, a subscription period or a particular use, if the actual terms say so. Record the unit, currency and any minimum, tier, included allowance or waiver only where the written source states them. An absent price is an unresolved question. It is not zero, and an unmentioned feature is not automatically included.
Stripe’s agreement allows written fee agreements to differ from public pricing. Match any negotiated offer to this account, service and scope before relying on it. A broad statement about payment processing may leave the optional feature unanswered. Where the offer and public page appear inconsistent, preserve both and request a written answer naming the feature and account rather than choosing the lower figure.
If inclusion depends on a waiver, introductory period or subscription boundary, record the stated condition and end point. Keep changing fees and changing general agreement terms distinct; do not assume one fee-notice rule answers every contract change. The decision at this stage is whether the documents define a cost you are willing to authorize, not whether the setting can technically be switched on.
Plan where the charge will become visible
A charge trigger and a collection method answer different questions. Stripe’s terms describe fees being deducted, charged or invoiced. Locate the collection route that applies to the service so the person approving it knows whether to look for a balance entry, a separate charge or an invoice. The absence of a deduction from a payout does not establish that an optional service was free.
Stripe’s Fees report separates product and feature fields from amount, tax and currency. It covers most balance-paid fees, but excludes after-use invoiced fees and certain products, including Terminal devices, Capital and Atlas. Its data can take up to 96 hours after the balance effect to become available. Those limits matter when choosing the later reconciliation record: an immediate empty export cannot prove that activation incurred no cost.
Use the written price to establish the expected basis and the actual report or invoice to establish what was billed. The Fees report does not supply the merchant’s agreed price. If later comparing report totals with balance entries, keep the account, date basis, date range and currency aligned; incurred dates and balance-transaction dates answer different questions.
Record the commercial decision separately from compatibility
A ready decision names the feature, the account, the governing price source, the billing trigger, the collection route and the person authorizing the added cost. If any one is unresolved, name that dependency and defer activation until it is answered. If the feature is already active, preserve the activation evidence and actual charges; ask what authorized options exist without assuming that turning it off reverses fees already incurred.
Technical compatibility and provider eligibility still need their own answers. A feature that loads in checkout does not establish that a provider approves the research-only business or that the existing offer covers its use. For a Prism processing consultation, summarize the optional service and the precise commercial ambiguity. Keep contracts, statements and account identifiers out of the public form; agree on scope, responsibilities, fees and terms for any requested assistance.
Optional service fee decision
Complete this before authorizing the feature from your actual offer, applicable terms and account settings. Use document names and dates rather than sensitive attachments. An unresolved charge trigger, account scope or price prevents a supported cost decision; do not fill the gap with public pricing for a different arrangement.
Worksheet entries are not submitted by Prism’s worksheet and are not saved by the site. Use record types, availability, anonymized observations, or match/mismatch results. Do not enter government identifiers, customer names or addresses, customer messages, receipt-access links, card or bank details, passwords, or keys. Send sensitive documents only through the provider’s verified secure channel.

Limits
Stripe terms and report behavior apply to Stripe and the relevant account region; they are not another provider’s fee schedule.
This worksheet does not infer prices, tax liability, contract enforceability, savings or provider eligibility.
Technical availability, business approval and the price of a service are separate decisions. Do not send private financial records or credentials through the public form.
Stripe Services Agreement general terms — checked 2026-09-29. The agreement combines general, service and incorporated terms with regional scope. Written fee agreements can differ from public pricing. Sections 7.1–7.2 distinguish fees, waivers, subscription scope and collection; the fee-change notice rule should not be applied to every agreement change.
Stripe Fees report — checked 2026-09-29. The report distinguishes product, feature, amount, tax and currency; covers most balance-paid fees with named exclusions; and can take up to 96 hours after balance effect. Incurred and balance-transaction date bases differ. It does not establish an agreed price.
Prism solutions — checked 2026-09-21. Prism can help organize processing questions; scope, fees and service terms are discussed before work, while the provider determines account terms and eligibility.
