Transitions and provider reviews

Ask a reserve question from the notice you have

Quote the notice and the agreement, then ask only for a fact those documents do not already state. Stripe's balances document says Stripe might create a reserve balance so the account can cover expected refunds or disputes, and that the balance holds funds you cannot pay out or transfer until the reserve hold period is complete. That sentence does not give a release date, and it describes a Stripe reserve balance, not every reserve another company might hold. If your notice is silent on the balance, the condition, or the date, those items are unknown. Do not calculate a date the document does not contain. You can decide whether the question is answerable from the papers. The provider decides the balance, the condition, and whether funds are released. Prism does not hold the reserve. Describe the work you need. Prism will confirm scope, responsibilities, fees, and terms before work begins.

Start from the notice, not from a definition you prefer

A usable reserve question identifies the provider, the document, and the date of the document before it asks anything. Copy the balance, the percentage, or the condition in the document's words. If the notice uses a term you do not understand, ask what that term refers to in this account. Do not replace it with a definition from a different company's help page.

This page is for a reserve that already exists. It is not the worksheet for estimating how a proposed reserve would move cash, and it is not the worksheet for a payout you cannot match to a deposit. Those questions use different records.

A Stripe reserve balance is one provider's mechanism

Stripe's balances document separates the payments balance, where charges settle, from a reserve balance Stripe might create. Funds in the reserve balance cannot be paid out or transferred until the reserve hold period is complete. The document does not publish a formula that turns a notice date into a release date, and it says risk criteria can also affect settlement timing on the payments balance.

Use that description only if the reserve in your notice is a Stripe reserve balance. If the notice names another company, Stripe's sentence does not define the balance or the release. Say which company holds the funds. If the notice does not say, that fact is the question, not a guess.

A condition and a date are different facts

Write the release condition only if the document states one. Examples of the kind of fact to copy, not to invent, are a stated hold period, a stated review, or a stated remaining balance. If the document gives a condition but no calendar date, ask the provider which date, if any, that condition produces for this account. Do not count days yourself and then treat the result as the provider's date.

A later statement that shows a lower reserve balance is a new record. It supports a question about that movement only when you can point to the statement date and the amount. It does not, by itself, prove the reserve ended or that the difference was paid to your bank. Payout and reserve are different records on Stripe's balances and payouts documents.

Prior replies belong in the question

If you already asked, attach the date of the reply and the sentence that remains unclear. Ask the provider to reconcile the reply with the notice, not to confirm a conclusion you drafted. Do not send account numbers you do not need, card numbers, or customer lists.

Prism's solutions page says the provider decides reserves and account terms. Prism can help you connect a provider's website questions to the store, within a scope agreed before work. The provider controls reserve decisions. Ask qualified counsel about contractual rights; a consultation does not promise a funds-arrival date.

The question that is ready to send

A ready question names the document, quotes the unresolved sentence, and asks one factual gap: the current balance, what the stated condition requires, or which later record shows a release. You can decide that the papers are too incomplete to ask yet. The provider decides the answer. A date that does not appear in the notice, the agreement, or a later written reply is unknown.

The contact page says Prism follows up by email. The request does not book a time and does not submit a processing application. There is no published promise about how quickly a provider will answer a reserve question.

Existing reserve record

Copy facts from the notice, the agreement, and later statements. Do not calculate a release date. Leave a row blank when the document does not state it. Worksheet entries are not submitted by this worksheet or saved by this site. Use only non-sensitive summaries; do not enter credentials, government identifiers, card or bank-account numbers, private receipt links, or customer details.

Worksheet entries are not submitted by Prism’s worksheet and are not saved by the site. Use record types, availability, anonymized observations, or match/mismatch results. Do not enter government identifiers, customer names or addresses, customer messages, receipt-access links, card or bank details, passwords, or keys. Send sensitive documents only through the provider’s verified secure channel.

Limits

  • A Prism consultation can help you organize the facts and discuss the website or processing question. The payment provider decides eligibility, pricing, reserves, and whether an account is opened or closed.
  • Nothing on this page is a legal interpretation of a reserve clause or a prediction that funds will be released.
  • A Stripe reserve balance is not evidence of how any other provider holds funds.
