Confirm an affiliate correction reached the published page

Compare the original claim and your correction request with the content currently visible at the authorized partner URL. Keep the observation date and the surrounding text, not just the partner’s completion message. Record whether the requested replacement is present, the claim was removed, the correction is partial, or the page could not be checked. Close the documented publishing task only to that extent. Matching the requested wording does not establish that the wording is substantiated or legally acceptable.

For: A research-only merchant that has already asked an authorized affiliate or partner to correct a published claim.

Recover the exact request before checking the reply

A useful correction receipt starts with a request that can be compared. Retain the authorized URL, the original passage or its location, the requested replacement or removal, the date sent and the publisher responsible. If the request only said to make the page compliant, it does not identify an observable publishing result. Clarify the affected passage and intended action before recording completion.

Keep the original concern separate from the proposed wording. A changed sentence can answer an editorial request while leaving the underlying claim unsupported. The FTC’s truth-in-advertising guidance calls for truthful, nonmisleading and appropriately substantiated advertising across media. Neither the partner’s agreement nor a match to your own catalog supplies that substantiation.

Read the published result in its actual context

Open the partner page a visitor would encounter and record the date, time and time zone. Locate the passage named in the request. Compare its current text with the request, then read the adjacent heading, image wording and recommendation where they are relevant to the same claim. Preserve only the evidence needed to show that comparison. A publisher’s draft or editing-screen screenshot does not show what the public page currently displays.

If the same requested claim appeared in several named placements, give each placement its own result. One corrected paragraph cannot close a request that also named a banner. If the URL redirects, record the destination and what it displays. If the page is inaccessible, record that fact and the time; do not convert an inability to inspect it into a claim that the content was removed.

Look at the disclosure separately when the correction affects an endorsement. The FTC’s endorsement guidance addresses honesty, claims the advertiser could lawfully make, and disclosure of material connections. A repaired product sentence does not establish that the relationship is disclosed, and a disclosure does not make an unsupported product claim acceptable.

Choose a receipt status that describes the evidence

Use a specific outcome: replacement observed, removal observed, partial correction, unchanged, or not verifiable. If the partner used different wording, describe the difference and return it to the person responsible for approving the correction. Do not silently treat a paraphrase as the agreed replacement, especially when it changes the audience, scope or strength of the claim.

For a partial correction, record exactly what remains and assign the next action to an owner. For a complete observed change, keep the original request and the dated result together. This closes the named handoff at the time checked. It does not close every page in the partner network or promise the content will remain unchanged.

The FTC’s guidance supports a reasonable advertiser training and monitoring program and action on questionable practices. It does not provide a universal schedule or make this receipt a safe harbor. Choose any further follow-up based on the actual relationship and unresolved concern; questions about legal adequacy belong with qualified counsel.

Use the remaining discrepancy to scope help

For a Prism website-review consultation, identify the public partner URL, what you requested and what still differs. Explain the research-only catalog context without repeating an unsupported claim as the store’s own promise. This gives the discussion a concrete page and an unresolved question.

Prism’s public support includes storefront review and help with provider website questions. Confirm the pages, deliverables, follow-up responsibilities, fees and terms before work. A consultation does not decide whether the partner’s wording satisfies law or a payment provider’s requirements. Use the public form for the website, products and question; exclude private correspondence containing customer records, passwords or payment details. Follow-up is by email, and the request is not a booking, purchase or processing application.

Partner correction receipt

Complete one receipt for one real correction request. Retain the requested action and the observed result separately. Leave an unobserved result blank and mark it not verifiable in the status; do not fill the gap from the partner’s assurance.

Worksheet entries are not submitted by Prism’s worksheet and are not saved by the site. Use record types, availability, anonymized observations, or match/mismatch results. Do not enter government identifiers, customer names or addresses, customer messages, receipt-access links, card or bank details, passwords, or keys. Send sensitive documents only through the provider’s verified secure channel.

Limits

  • This receipt documents a specific observed publication change; it is not a legal clearance, provider approval or guarantee of future content.
  • FTC staff guidance is not a safe harbor. Claim support and material-connection disclosure remain separate questions.
  • Do not fabricate partner quotations or rewrite genuine customer words to make a correction appear complete. Keep private records out of the public inquiry.
